In this example we will show how to add variables for repetitive data like tables or lists
When to use? #
You need to input for repetitive data like lists or tables. Your lists and tables can have other lists and tables inside them.
Main Idea #
Table or List variable works like wrapper for other variables (for example Text, Number, Date) that will be repeated inside it
Prerequisites #
For this example we are using a template for Board Meeting Minutes from this link.
- Download and open document
- Open Templatise Add-in and create new template
Examples #
Creating list variable #
Let’s say you need to specify multiple announcements.
- Create a variable with title Announcements and type Table or List
- Select ANNOUNCEMENT text in document and click Connect and Save
- Click on + button on Announcements variable to add new variable that will be repeated
- Set title to Announcement and type to Text, Number, Date
- Select ANNOUNCEMENT text in document and click Connect and then Save
- Make sure that variable Announcement is visible inside parent Announcements
Now go to template filling tab and open our template, you can add as many announcements as you want:
Creating table variable #
Let’s say you need to specify present members with their roles.
- Create a variable with title Members and type Table or List
- Select row in a Members Present table with text MEMBER NAME, MEMBER ROLE in a document and click Connect and Save
- Click on + button on Members variable to add new variable that will be repeated
- Set title to Name and type to Text, Number, Date
- Select MEMBER NAME text in document and click Connect and then Save
- Now add second variable – click on + button on Members variable to add new variable that will be repeated
- Set title to Role and type to Text, Number, Date
- Select MEMBER ROLE text in document and click Connect and then Save
Now go to template filling tab and open our template, you can add as many members as you want:
